Date Announced for The Welsh Factor National Final 2012
Music Wales Ltd, has become the Welsh Factor major sponsor for the Welsh Factor National final which will be held in the New Gwyn Hall in Neath on Thursday 6th December 2012. The prize for the winner will be 1,000 CD’s a portion of which will be distributed in major stores such as Tesco’s, Asda’s, Amazon, WH Smith, HMV and many other outlets. Music Wales Ltd is the only company that have the franchise to do this for Welsh recording products. This is the first time in the history of Welsh Entertainment that a major Record Label and a major Talent Competition based in Wales have formed an alliance to promote Welsh Talent!
The Competition:
The competition is run in Venues throughout South Wales and everyone who believes they have talent is welcome to apply to enter any competition from the ages of 11 years old to 150 years old. The structure of the competition is run over fifteen weeks in one venue although this is not set in stone it is the format we have at present. The first four weeks are called the “1st Round Heats”. This is followed by three weeks of the “Semi-Finals” ending with the Grand Final.
The Prizes on offer in every competition is £800-00 cash prizes. This sum of money will be divided into relevant denominations as the organisers see fit. At present a rule of thumb would be £500-00 for the winner, £200-00 for second prize and £100-00 for third place. As an extra there will also be an offer of a contract with a leading South Wales Entertainment Agency (terms and conditions apply), so there is everything to play for.
The competition has also been promoted in JK’s Social Club, Neath Road, Briton Ferry with the Final result being imminent. This will also become an annual event commencing in September of each year. As an organisation we are growing in experience and knowledge and are continually learning and refining our structures as we go along.
Whenever we install a competition in any Venue we ensure it has a good sound system and a compere to ensure the smooth running of the evening. We also appoint our own Judges who have a professional background in the industry and have a musical knowledge tempered with the experience of actually working on stage and are or have been performers on the Entertainment circuit.
At the end of each half the Judge’s scorecards are collected an audited by one of the Company’s adjudicators and the result given to the compere to announce the Artistes and competitors that will go through to the next round of the competition. There is a more precise description of these procedures in the heading “Terms and Conditions”
Purpose:
The purpose of running the Welsh Factor competition is to encourage people with talent to develop their skills and hopefully bring them to a professional standard where they can make a living by performing their talents in front of audiences. The Welsh Factor is all about recruiting latent talent from our communities so if you know anyone who has a talent please encourage them to enter a Talent Competition at the earliest opportunity. There are many people who would love to enter the Entertainment Industry but do not have any idea of how to go about it. Sadly, it does seem to be a closed shop these days but through this company that is not now the case.
The Welsh Factor is all about developing talent and we have put machinery in place so that even if contestants are not successful in progressing through the heats an opportunity for them is not written off. Clearly, anyone who has genuine talent will be encouraged by the company to develop their skills through another arm of the competition called the Welsh Factor Academy. The details of this instrument are set out under that title in more depth.
During the running of the competition contestants will find they will receive good advice from Judge’s who will give constructive tips on how to improve their show and how to manage their skills. The Judge’s are not there to condemn any contestant as they are well aware of how difficult it is to perform on a stage in front of people so don’t worry about receiving a dressing down in public as this will not happen. We come across many people who have come from broken homes, have had their confidence shattered through violent abuse or relationships and some have come through extreme trauma but we are here to help to restore people’s self esteem and build up their confidence in a friendly and homely way. The Welsh Factor is shaping up to be a something of a family unit with everyone supporting each other. The Welsh Factor is therefore a competition with purpose. |
